Los cuatro evangelios canónicos presentan a Jesús como alguien que citaba y comentaba las Escrituras de Israel. Si este retrato se remonta a la figura histórica de Jesús ha sido un asunto debatido en la historia de la investigación.

En los congresos internacionales de la EABS (European Association of Biblical Studies) celebrados entre 2012 y 2014 en Amsterdam, Leipzig y Viena un grupo de especialistas abordó esta cuestión centrando su atención cada año en una sección de las Escrituras y el impacto que parece haber tenido sobre Jesús. En Amsterdam el tema fue Jesús y los libros históricos; en Leipzig, Jesús y los profetas; y en Viena, Jesús y los Salmos y la literatura sapiencial.

Una selección de los trabajos presentados ha sido publicada ahora en el volumen editado por el profesor de Nuevo Testamento en la Universidad de Lund (Suecia) Tobias Hägerland, Jesus and the Scriptures. Problems, Passages and Patterns (Library of New Testament Studies 552), Bloomsbury T & T Clark, London – New York, 2016, 246 pp.
